Summary

The soluble sulfide content in the drilling fluid can be determined by this instrument. Soluble sulfides include hydrogen sulfide (H2S), sulfur ion (S-2), and hydrogen-sulfur ion (HS-). Aciidating the slurry filtrate in the Garrett gas separator transforms all sulfides to H2S and is carried out by the carrier gas passing through the sample and foamed. Garrett The gas separator separates the gas from the liquid. Air flows through a Drager tube acting with hydrogen sulfide (H2S) with variable black along its length. The length of the blackening is proportional to the total amount of sulfide in the mud filtrate. The Drager tubes for the low concentration range changed from white to brown-black, and the Drager tubes for the high concentration range changed from light blue to smoke black. Usually the contaminants in the mud do not cause this color change.
